One year after chartering the UGA chapter of URGE, I was invited to accept the Outstanding Chapter Award and $2,000 in funding for achievements in organizing at the Gloria Steinem Annual Membership Conference in Washington, DC.

• Mobilized students and community members alike around progressive local candidates, state legislation, art-based protest, racial discrimination, voter registration and unlawful deportation.

• Received training from the state and national organization in independently establishing a small organization.

• Successfully built coalitions between local community and University students.

• Successfully drafted a living constitution to ensure that procedures were in place to help sustain the chapter's on-campus presence after my graduation.
